My father has dementia. He lives with me full-time. My family is helpful. A few things I have learned watching my parents get older and my mom going to a lot of doctors. My mom was then in hospice before she passed away.

A few things I want to do before I get older

# one

have my daughter be my power of attorney.

sell everything I own

give away what I own

cash out my life insurance and pre-pay for my burial services, luncheon, and anything that my kids may have for me when I pass away

have all my documents in order and in one place

have extended care insurance so if my husband and I develop some type of medical issue we will have insurance to put us in an adult day care or a facility

my children won’t have to make decisions about my healthcare

declutter the house

downsize

put all my wishes on paper

have a Will
