During the procession the Virgin is pulled by yoked oxen, making Lamego the only place in the Catholic world where an image of the Virgin is transported by animals.

The 7th edition of the Festa do Emigrante de Freixianda of 2023, in the municipality of Ourém, is back.
On the 10th of August, at Largo dos Bombeiros, organized by the local section of the Volunteer Firefighters of Ourém and the respective League of Friends.
The party will start with the opening of the bar and restaurant with the usual roast chicken, at 6 pm and 7 pm, respectively, with the possibility of selling meals outside.
All proceeds obtained from this initiative are used to raise funds for the Freixianda section of peacekeepers, as well as to welcome all emigrants.

Medieval Days in Castro Marim
Medieval Days in Castro Marim Featured Event In August, Castro Marim returns to the Middle Ages, in a highly rigorous historical recreation. During four days and nights, the castle of Castro Marim once again plays host to kings and queens, knights in shining armor, jesters, buffoons, noblemen, and ladies, as the entire Court makes a procession before the admiring gazes of many visitors that travel to the event every year. Jousting tournaments, on foot and on horseback, street theatre performances, banquets accompanied by medieval music, and handicrafts and merchandise fairs, complement the entertainment activities of these Medieval Days, enabling us to relive the magic and mystery of times gone by.
