SORTING PROJECTS

Items needed

egg cartons to use to sort items.

small baskets

any small objects- buttons, earrings, jewelry, baseball cards, wrapped candy, batteries, screws, coins

lunch tray or platter

small table

use one egg carton

gather a handful of coins

put coins in a small basket or box

have Dementia Patients separate coins

they can separate them by color or amount

If Dad wants to sort the coins by a penny, dime, nickel, quarter, half dollar

have 5 small baskets or boxes to place the coins in each

I place the baskets on a tray to keep them close

If he puts a penny with nickels, you do not need to correct him

My Dad loves to sort items

We spend about 30 minutes sorting objects

play cards

don't worry about the rules or the game.

flip cards- see who has the larger number

flip cards- see if the colors match

keep the game simple and friendly

uno is an easy game

coloring books can be fun

print photos and write the name of the person in the photo on the picture in a black marker so the aides can go through photos with your loved one
